Gosh it’s been a long time since I’ve written an actual blog post, hasn’t it?! I was on such a roll for a while with new posts releasing every Saturday and then the holidays happened and things went a bit haywire and blogs got pushed to the back burner. Anyway, I’m back and have so many new fun topics I want to share with you, so buckle up and get ready for the Fitness Frivolity blog to make a comeback 😊

I have a ton of blogs I look forward to reading every week and if there’s one topic that never ceases to interest me it’s a Favorite Things post. There’s just something to be said about shopping based on someone else’s unbiased feedback or maybe it’s not even shopping we’re chatting about, but rather trying a new snack, making your bed a new way or enjoying your favorite protein powder differently. It’s the fact that someone else loves the particular thing enough to write a blog post about it that makes the recommendation seem even more genuine and trial worthy to me, so here are my current obsessions in no particular order and I hope that they inspire you in some way or at least make you think about some things you’re currently loving.

Little Miss Lexi gave us quite a scare earlier this year when she tweaked her neck somehow and landed in the emergency room, only to be sent home with pain meds and a note to me to never walk her with just her collar again ☹ After trying several different harnesses, all of which she hated, we landed on the one from Lucy & Co. and while Lexi prays it somehow magically disappears overnight, I on the other hand am obsessed with the little matchy match print we’ve got going on! The fabric is super soft and the harness is actually reversible, so you get two patters for the price of one, which I love. Plus these come in a ton of different patterns, all of which you can match with leash, collar and poop bag holder….the matching set obsession is real you guys! So so cute!

I’m not sure if you remember, but late last year when I started taking meds for my hypothyroidism I struggled majorly with hair thinning/loss, which was super scary if I’m being quite honest. At the time several of you recommended I try Zenagen Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner and I am so happy to report that although I despise having to wash my hair 3 times a week (suggestion on the product usage), it has made a world of a difference and my hair stylist said she could see all my new baby hairs growing in when I saw her last, which made me so so happy! After comparing pricing on various websites, I found that your best bet cost wise is actually Walmart, which is where I’ve been ordering my supply from.

Mug Cake

I don’t know why it took me so dang long to jump on the mug cake train, but you guys…if you haven’t tried it, please do yourself a favor and head to @Kalekouture ‘s page and make her mug cake! I also saved the recipe making process on my reels, so you can always check those out and follow along if that’s easier. I’ve been using yellow cake mix and chocolate chips for my nightly indulgence, but you can make them with any mixes and toppings you like and they are so delicious!

This is the recipe I’ve been using: https://kalekouture.org/2-ingredient-mugcake/

If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know that I am not a huge protein powder gal. I never liked the taste, plus regardless of brand or ingredients, I was never able to find a powder that didn’t give me terrible gas (sorry if that’s TMI)…that is, until I found Active Stacks! I saw Juli Roth from @paleomg mention this brand on one of her Favorite Things posts (see, they always get me) and I knew I had to try it and lo and behold, this is the first protein powder that I can use without any nasty side effects!!! Hallelujah! I’ve been obsessed with mixing 1 scoop of protein with 170g of plain Greek yogurt or adding a scoop into my morning coffee for a delicious mocha. Seriously, this stuff is amazing and a little birdie told me that we may have a giveaway with this brand coming to Fitness Frivolity on Monday, so be on the lookout for that ;-)

I know I’ve mentioned this program before, but with things being super hectic with moving etc, it’s been so nice to just be able to hit play on my daily stretching video and know I’m giving my muscles, bones and joints some love. If you’re like me and you won’t stretch unless someone makes you do it, this might be worth looking into. I believe they still give you a free week and after that it’s less than $15 a month.

You guys! I have literally eaten these little nuggets of joy for the last 5 nights in a row and I'm not ashamed about it at all :-) They are perfect little Chick Fil A dupes and can be made in the air fryer or oven in minutes. They have 16g of protein per serving and when paired with potato wedges make an excellent meal for any day of the week (or all of them in my case). I get mine at Costco, but I'm sure you can find these at other stores as well. Add these to your grocery list, trust me!

Audible

Don’t get me wrong, I love reading, it’s just that when I start a new book I tend to get totally sucked into it and I can’t do anything else until that book is done :-/ Since I have a ton to do everyday and can’t afford to get suckered into a book at the moment, I’ve been loving listening to my library on Audible.

Here are my current faves:

  • Good Girl, Bad Girl by Michael Robotham

  • NYPD Red 6 by James Patterson and Marshall Karp (This whole series is awesome)

  • One Day in December by Josie Silver

  • To Tell You the Truth by Gilly MacMillan

  • The Guest List by Lucy Foley - Currently Listening to this one!

In the Dark

If you need a new TV show to watch and you love crime/suspense shows but don’t want to get too scared, this show is for you! You can catch it on Netflix and without giving too much away, it basically follows a blind woman who is trying to find out who killed her best friend. I got so much more out of it than just entertainment and really loved thinking about what it would be like to be blind. Who would you be friends with or date if you could only see people for who they are on the inside, rather than having any external factors sway your decision? Anyway, watch it, you won’t regret it!

Now I know this is a bit expensive when it comes to pillows and trust me, I went back and forth on the purchase for months before I pulled the trigger. Knowing I can try the pillow for 100 nights and return it if I didn't love it, finally made me take the plunge and I am so glad I did! I am totally obsessed with my purple pillow and sleep like a baby every night. I even travel with it (well to my parents house that is) and seriously can't imagine sleeping on any other pillow ever again. I absolutely love how cooling the fabric is, but what I love the very most, and this might be just a strange Jasmine thing, but when I sleep on my side the pillow doesn't make any annoying crunchy sounds and best of all, I can't hear my heartbeat in my ears...again, this might just be a me thing. If you've been thinking about trying this pillow, I say go for it and worst case, try it for up to 100 nights and return it if it's not the best fit for you.

I'd love to know some of your current faves, so drop them in the comments or lets chat via Instagram :-) I hope you're having the best weekend!
